Rose Zella’s Ham and Beans
3 Cups Pinto Beans
3 Tlbsp Bacon Grease or several slices of uncooked bacon. (Some folks like Smoked Ham Hocks in their beans)
1 Tsp. Salt
Put pinto beans in large bowl of water and rinse well. Pour beans into a large Crock Pot and fill with water. Add salt.
Cook on high for 12 hours. Remove lid, add water if needed, cover and cook on low for 8 more hours.
Note: I put on my pinto beans the night before I want to serve them. I cook on high all night and then of the morning before work, I complete the second step in cooking. I let them cook all day and serve for supper that night. Enjoy!
